Prepare the details that matter aboard
Ask about suitable safety equipment and the briefing for your group. Food allergies and dietary needs should be shared before provisions are arranged. If someone may need a quiet interior space, make that a selection requirement.
More practical details
Swimming and water activities need their own discussion of conditions, equipment and supervision. Professional crew does not imply childcare. The responsibilities agreed for children should be understood by the adults in the party.
A family day with a manageable course
Check the shade, bathroom access and steps between guest areas on the actual yacht. Explain mobility needs before selecting a vessel. The number of cabins says little about whether a daytime layout suits your party.
Reduce avoidable transfers
A meal aboard and one agreed embarkation point may keep logistics simpler than several pickups and a shore restaurant. If a visit ashore is important, ask how the family would land and return to the yacht.
More practical details
Obtain the precise marina pin and share it with every guest. Build the day around the family's pace, and let the captain assess suitable stops rather than treating every place on a map as a required call.
Work out your time aboard
Divide the hours before choosing the passage
Enter the hours available and the time you want to set aside. Subtracting those allowances leaves a time budget, not a calculation of speed, distance, safe route or arrival.
The allowances exceed the time available. Reduce the plan or allow a longer day.
