La Spezia · Private yacht charter

Swimming and water activities on your La Spezia yacht day.

The La Spezia water-activity plan begins with a course: Portovenere and Palmaria, or the Lerici side of the gulf. Then decide how long you want the yacht to remain stopped. A swim, a paddleboard session and a shore visit compete for those same hours, so give one clear priority.

Choose a side of the gulf

A request towards Portovenere and Palmaria has a different shape from one concentrating on the Lerici side. Both begin with the same practical decision: how much of your available time belongs to cruising, and how much to a suitable water stop. The route can then be assessed around the yacht and the conditions instead of being filled with a list of place names.

More practical details

If the party wants time ashore at Portovenere, allow for the landing arrangement, the visit and getting everyone back aboard. A swim should not depend on finding a few unallocated minutes at the end. Ask the captain to discuss a workable order, especially where guests must return to La Spezia for a fixed train or evening appointment.

Palmaria is more than a backdrop

The official Portovenere visitor information describes the protected marine setting around Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto and identifies the area’s underwater habitats. That geographical context does not mean the yacht can anchor, land passengers or support swimming at every point around those islands. The operator needs to check the proposed activity and location for the date.

More practical details

Keep cave visits and diving out of a general swimming promise. They require a specific assessment, appropriate support and any applicable arrangements. A photograph of clear water beside a cliff cannot establish access for the named yacht or suitability for the people in your party. A flexible gulf programme leaves room for a different stop when necessary.

Inspect the route into and out of the water

For a swimming-led day, request images of the actual stern, ladder and handholds. Explain who may need help returning aboard. A model profile tells you about the design, while the offered hull’s photographs and crew arrangement show what your party would use. A large platform alone does not answer every access question.

More practical details

Guests who remain aboard need a comfortable place near the activity without obstructing the wet route back to the cockpit. Consider shade, towels, rinsing off and the lunch setup together. Tell the organiser the children’s ages and swimming confidence, then establish supervision and correctly sized equipment before departure.

Give optional equipment a clear status

For snorkelling or paddleboarding, ask what is carried, how many people can use it at once and whether assistance is included. A separate hire should be identified with its supplier and cost. Powered activities or a diving session require their own operating plan; none is assumed to be part of a Gulf of Poets yacht charter.

More practical details

Write the first line of your Golfo Privato enquiry around the day: a gulf swim with lunch, or Portovenere ashore with water time if practical. Follow with dates, actual hours aboard, participant confidence and essential equipment. A named vessel, documented access and an itemised activity arrangement let you assess whether the proposed yacht fits that plan.

Work out your time aboard

Divide the hours before choosing the passage

Enter the hours available and the time you want to set aside. Subtracting those allowances leaves a time budget, not a calculation of speed, distance, safe route or arrival.
